(More customer reviews)The wood bowl is nice but in my personal opinion, it has a bit of a "plastic-y" feel to it. The soap is pleasant though, and smells just fine though it doesn't smell much like almond to me. It's not a strong scent, which is good, but it's just a touch flowery. There are times when I wonder if I somehow didn't end up with some of the Rose scented soap instead of the almond. Even if that were the case, it's not a bad thing. Just, don't expect to smell like a bag of nuts. =)
The soap is definitely a hard soap, as it is described. It takes a fairly significant amount of water on my brush to work up a decent lather. In fact, if I shake my brush off whatsoever after running it under my faucet, it tends to cause problems with the soap beginning to dry out halfway through my shave, causing the soap to go from slick to thick and sticky. As long as I use enough water to start though, it works with no problems.
Also, I expect this one dish of soap to last me a looooong time. I bought one of the replacement packages at the same time I bought this one, and between the two of them, I probably have enough shaving soap to last me for the next two years. Maybe even longer. Sure, it cost more up front than one of those 99 cent cans of shaving cream, but it also looks a lot nicer on my sink, and it lasts a ton longer.
