(More customer reviews)I've been shaving with a quality badger brush and good soaps for over twenty years. Part of the appeal is the ritual: warming the brush and face with hot water, pumping the brush with soap to make a creamy lather and then applying all this warmth to the face. But mostly it's because of the smooth, close shaves I get. I had not tried the Parker soap, but the Parker name is well regarded by aficionados of the shave (yep, it's almost cultish). Parker Safety Razor, founded in 1973, is an Indian company, and these soaps are made there. The soaps are all natural, free of pesticides and not tested on animals.
These two jars of soap are handsomely packaged and a good value, but they are small. With only a 2 1/4-inch jar-opening, it's more difficult to pump the brush than it is with soap in a bowl. But they are a perfect size for travel. More important, they give a super smooth and very close shave; my razor glides over my face, and I am closely shaved with just one pass of the razor--it must be the soap's shea butter. Yet the lather rinses clear and leaves no residue. My face feels smooth, soft and moist without any hint of dryness. The soap's sandalwood scent is subtle and refreshing.
This is one of the best soaps I've used. I wish they made a larger size to use as refills for shaving bowls. The small jar-size is the only reason for four stars rather than five.
